Pet Gundog Foundation Course (1 Year +) • Focus & Engagement • Everyday Obedience • Recall & Whistle Basics • Controlled Hunting Outlets • Introduction to Retrieving for Enrichment • Calmness, Manners & Self-Control ⸻ Course Overview Our 6-week Pet Gundog Foundation Course is designed for owners of gundog breeds or gundog crossbreeds kept as family pets who want to meet their dog’s natural instincts in a positive, manageable way. Many gundogs struggle when their working drives aren’t fulfilled — this course helps you understand those instincts and shows you how to channel them into fun, enriching activities that improve behaviour and strengthen your relationship. Held in small, friendly groups at Ewelme Dog Field, the course is suitable for dogs aged 1 year and older, with no previous gundog-style training required. ⸻ What the Course Covers You and your dog will learn: • Building engagement and play • Everyday obedience foundations • Whistle cues for reliable recall • Controlled hunting-style exercises to meet instinctual needs • Retrieving for fun and enrichment • Confidence building, impulse control and calmness • How to support a well-balanced, fulfilled pet gundog ———— What to Bring to Class • Place board (platform/raised bed) • Treats your dog enjoys • High-value treats for harder exercises • Slip lead (correctly fitted) • Gundog whistle (e.g., 210.5 or 211.5) ——— Important Information • No bitches in season can attend class — please contact us if your dog comes into season during the course. • One handler per dog to keep sessions calm, consistent, and safe. • This is a 6-week course with set dates. • If you miss a class, it cannot be refunded or transferred to another course. • Dogs must be comfortable working around other dogs. • Please arrive a few minutes early so you’re ready to start on time. • All dogs must remain on lead unless instructed otherwise.
